Don’t sign up for credit cards you don’t need

I talked to a man today who agreed to sign up for a credit card he did not need because they had a special promotion at the store at which he was shopping. He had to charge something that day to get the special deal, so he bought $8 worth of blank videotapes. When the bill arrived it was so small he set it aside, and when he finally paid the $8, he was a week late. The next bill he got had a $39 late fee, plus interest. He protested. They ignored him. He kept protesting. They kept ignoring him. He is now up to $147 and rising — all for a card he did not need.
