Why you might want to use a credit card instead of a debit card

With a credit card you can’t lose more than $50 if your card is stolen, no matter how much the thief charges to your card.
A crook can use a debit card to clean out your whole bank account and trying to get all that back can be a hassle.   If you don’t report the loss right away, you could lose $500 or even more.
There is a bill being filed in the Senate to limit the liability on lost debit cards to $50 — as it is on credit cards — but until (and if) it becomes law, it’s best to stick with credit cards.
